University of Warwick to host Superleague semi-final

Wasps Netball’s crunch Vitality Netball Superleague semi-final play-off clash will be played at the University of Warwick’s new Sports and Wellness Hub.

The two-time champions will take on the fourth-placed finishers in the Superleague on Saturday 11 May (5pm centre-pass) in the indoor sports arena at the state-of-the-art facility.

The Hub, which is part of a £49 million investment in the site and adjoining sports facilities at the University of Warwick, has been the Black and Golds’ training base since opening its doors last month.

The arena features retractable-tiered seating and is set to be packed out for the crunch semi-final meeting in the Vitality Netball Superleague.

Mel Mansfield, Wasps Netball Head Coach, said: “We have been training at the University of Warwick over the last three seasons and recently made the transition into their brilliant new centre.

“Unfortunately we aren’t able to play our semi-final at Ricoh Arena but we know from first-hand experience that the Sports and Wellness Hub will be a fantastic venue for what is undoubtedly the biggest game of our season so far.

“We’ve worked hard to get to this point and we’re looking forward to rising to the challenge of whichever team we face in the semi-final.

“We can’t wait to see the stands packed full of our brilliant fans, waving their flags and roaring us on, as we look to progress to the Grand Final.”

Lisa Dodd-Mayne, Director of Sport & Active Communities at the University of Warwick, added: “The University of Warwick has supported Wasps Netball since its inception three seasons ago and we’re delighted to be hosting their home semi-final this year.

“It will be the first time since we opened the doors of the new Sports and Wellness Hub that we will have hosted an event of this magnitude, and it will be fantastic to see the indoor sports arena packed full of fans on the evening.

“We hope that everyone who attends on the evening enjoys the game and the world-class facilities we have here at the University.”

Doors open on Saturday 11 May at 4pm, with centre-pass at 5pm. For tickets and more information go to
