England Netball has announced the cancellation of the Vitality Netball Superleague (VNSL) 2020 season due to the continued impact of the Coronavirus outbreak. Wasps Netball can confirm that, as a result, it will offer all current Season Members credit to the full value of their 2020 membership purchase which can be used towards their membership for next season or against future club purchases. Season Members will also be given an option to donate all or part of their credit balance back to the club, or to apply for a refund. Similar options will also be made available for Match Ticket purchasers.
Stephen Vaughan, Wasps Group Chief Executive, said: “Four years ago, we took the decision to launch Wasps Netball. The team has not only established itself as one of the leading elite performance clubs in the country, but also delivers an incredible community programme which engages with thousands of youngsters every year.
“I am incredibly proud of what we have achieved so far. Not only is netball a sport which continues to grow, but it also plays a massive part in inspiring people in our local communities to lead healthier, happier lives through the positive power of sport.
“We made a long term commitment to netball, have high expectations for the future and those ambitions have not changed. We remain committed to returning to the court but only when it is safe to do so as our priority has been, and will continue to be, the health and wellbeing of our staff, players, volunteers, partners, supporters and their families. This is why we fully support the decision made by England Netball.
“Although the current situation is challenging for everyone, we know it will end and decisions are being made now to safeguard the club, as well as the long term future of netball. Following confirmation that the 2020 season has been cancelled, and based on feedback from fans, we are offering supporters a range of ticketing options so that they can decide what works best for them.
“The support and understanding we have had from our fans so far has been incredible. Ticketing revenue is such an important part of netball income, which is why we are offering fans the option of credit towards their season and match tickets for next season so they can help the club and guarantee their seat for 2021.”
Season Members will be offered credit to the full value of their 2020 membership purchase. The following options are available to use this:
1) Towards their 2021 season membership renewal – anyone doing so will receive a club gift
2) As credit to spend on tickets to future games, in the club shop or on netball camps – anyone doing so will receive a club gift
3) ‘Donate’ this credit, or a proportion of it, back to the club, to support Wasps through a difficult financial situation – anyone doing so will receive a club gift
4) For those who prefer, a refund will also be available (excluding booking & transaction fees)
Fans who have purchased match tickets for any games which have been cancelled will be offered credit in place of their original purchase. The following options are available to use this:
1) Receive credit worth 125% of the value of the original purchase to spend on tickets to future games or in the club shop
2) ‘Donate’ this amount back to the club, to support Wasps through a difficult financial situation – anyone doing so will receive a club gift
3) For those who prefer, a refund will be available (excluding booking & transaction fees)
All fans who are impacted will be contacted via email with full details so that they can confirm which option they wish to choose. Please do not contact the Ticket Office as it is currently closed.
Vaughan continued: “By confirming our ticketing plans, we hope to ease any concerns our loyal fans may have and provide some clarity around the questions we have been asked.”
Wasps Netball can also confirm that their remaining netball camps and workshops have also been cancelled. Anyone with a booking will be contacted via email to outline the options available to them.
Mel Mansfield, Wasps Netball Head Coach, added: “Along with the whole of the netball community we are deeply saddened that it has not been possible to complete the 2020 Superleague season, but we wholeheartedly support this extremely difficult decision as the safety and wellbeing of all concerned is paramount.
“I am incredibly proud of the way the players and staff have stayed connected during this challenging time and we look forward to taking to court again when it is safe to do so. We miss each other, our fans and our partners, and are hugely grateful for the ongoing support of the entire Wasps family.”
Wasps will continue to update our members and fans with information regarding the impact of the Covid-19 virus on the club as it becomes available.
